Hey everyone, this is Dr. Delgado, and I'm just here to answer a few questions about veneers.
Veneers are basically facings that we put on teeth. I always kind of explain it to patients that it's kind of like how a bathroom tile is in your bathroom; right, they glue the tile to the wall, so it's kind of what we do with the veneer. It's a fake tooth that's glued to the front of your tooth to make it look better.
Basically, we have to cut the tooth a little bit; we try to do it very minimally, and the veneer allows us to change the shape, position, and the color of your teeth to enhance your smile. In one way, it's kind of like instant braces and instant whitening.
People that are a good candidate for veneers are people who have healthy gums and generally very healthy teeth. Teeth that are badly broken down are not usually good candidates for veneers, but people that have a healthy mouth, that really, we're just trying to enhance the color, the shape, and the overall aesthetic of the teeth.
